Being able to track/plot baby weight.
more in general being able to add a "trackable" activity when it is a numerical one (weight, height, etc...) and therefore plot it

I also would like weight tracking..and height. It'd be nice to see how baby grows over time

I would love a place to track weight, height, doc visits, and vaccinations. I currently have to switch to another app to do that.

We are currently interviewing other developers to help us create the weight tracking charts (we just don't have time for all the features!) So hopefully weight tracking will be added in the next couple of months. I'll let you know more as things progress.

Yes, yes, yes! This is a must! We are tracking weight between appointments and this would be amazing for sharing our efforts more accurately with the doc's office. This would be nicely tied to height since those reports tend to be tied when talking statistics.

I would love to have the ability to track my daughter's hight and weight. At this time I have to switch to Baby Care another app to accomplish that and to see hight and weight charts. I hope soon I will not need two applications. :)

I don't know how long, definitely closer to 3 months than 3 years!
We tried to hire an outside developer to help with weight tracking but that didn't work out so well so we'll have to give it another shot.
It isn't a trivial amount of work, especially the graphs are tricky. We might start work on just collecting the data and worry about the graphs later I guess.

Don't waste time making it all specific to weight, height, etc. Just add a numerical value field next to the "notes" field in everything tracked (including the custom things users add). Then users can add whatever numerical thing they want: weight, head size, temperature, etc.
It just requires adding the 1 field next to notes and then making that plot-able (in addition to number of times / total duration per day).
April 29, 2011 10:37
Karl Pfleger
You don't have to worry about units either. Leave it up to the users. They can either be consistent and not even document or they can put the units used in the notes field.

Disagree x2 ^ (I disagree with both Karl's posts) sorry Karl! The growth charts in the Baby Care app are really useful, they provide a percentile range and u can see which one your baby is in and if she is growing properly. This feature is definitely not something to make "half-ass". Thanks :)

In hopes that this doesn't sound like we're ganging up on Karl... I'm with Lezli. I'd like to see this as a fully integrated (graphing, reporting, etc.) feature.

Karl Pfleger
Let me be clear, I'm responding mostly to Peter's comments about needing to call in an outside developer. I agree that a full-blown weight tracking with fancy features would be great. I just don't think that a basic numerical weight value field would be nearly as hard and wanted to make sure the developers thought about that. Doing what I suggested wouldn't cause much/any delay on then customizing the weight value tracking. But the point is not to delay improving on storing weight numbers in the "notes" string in order to do nice bells and whistles.
I.e., weight "values" (along with arbitrary other numerical values, all chart-able) is much much better than current state of only having "notes" field. Whiz-bang weight-specific stuff like comparing to growth charts is nice-to-have better but not as much of an improvement and thus shouldn't delay the former.
Chelsea & Brian, you seem to be under the misconception that what I suggested wasn't fully integrated with graphs and reporting, but that's not true. An arbitrary value field should allow full graphing and reporting. But it should be done such that every numerical value can be graphed (temp, size, etc.), not just weight. If that can be done for the same effort, what's not to prefer about that?

The lack of a growth chat is the main reason I a hesitating purchasing this app. This addition would seal the deal.
